…As group awards outstanding members

Innovative wealth creation and how members can explore various income streams were the focus of this year’s Annual Seminar of the Alimosho Professional Group, held on Saturday 25, October, 2025.
The annual gathering of Muslim professionals in Alimosho provided another opportunity to, once again, balance faith, excellence, and service to humanity.
The event also served as a platform for new ideas, stronger unity, and renewed commitment of members to excellence in their various fields of endeavours.
Held at the CEDAR Point Event Centre, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, this year’s hybrid edition particularly focused on “Strategic Financial Advancement”, and recorded attendance from within and outside Alimosho.
Why we chose wealth creation this year
The Head, Alimosho Professional Group, Mr Kazeem Lawal, said “For every year we try to address a peculiar issue, and our concern for this year is wealth creation. How do we expand our avenues to wealth beyond salary? We want to make more money for ourselves and our members.”
He submitted that the seminar is supposed to be an eye-opener for every attendee.
“Today’s event is supposed to be a mindshift for event. We should all start thinking of novel ways to advance our wealth. I want to believe everyone here is charged to make a difference.
Chairman of the occasion, Mr Alli Dauda, in his opening remarks, encouraged participants to take advantage of the wealth creation ideas that would be shared in order to advance their financial positions.
Mr. Dauda, who is the immediate past chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, (ICAN), Alimosho District, appreciated the organizers of the programme, saying that hosting such a programme at this point in time was highly commendable, giving the economic situation in Nigeria.
Credibility will fetch you more money
The Guest Speaker, Engr. Adewale AbdulGaniu Jawando, refuted the claim that there is no money in Nigeria.
He asserted that people have money, but will only give it to a person with credibility.
The Chief Executive Officer, Acumen Nigeria Limited, who named poverty as an easy path to indebtedness and worry, laid emphasis on the importance of skill acquisition.
“Poverty does two things to you; it gets you indebted and makes you wallow in worry. Hence, you have to work against it by developing yourself in six cardinal areas; mentally, socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and career. If you touch all the areas and leave one out, it’s at your own detriment. Personal development has to be allround.”
The seasoned technocrat, business strategist and coach, then identified entrepreneurship as the tool to combat poverty.
“Having come to an agreement on the fact that poverty needs to be dealt with. We need to know as well, entrepreneurship remains one way to tackle the problem of poverty. Mind you, entrepreneurs are innovative problem solvers. They either look for ways to improve an existing solution or create a new one entirely. So, ask yourself: What are you doing differently?
“There is a great need for you to leverage the things you know. We have some relevant information but we tend to underestimate ourselves. You can go back and relearn or study some of the things you learnt in school. I remember there was a time we had a serious challenge with our birds. We called vets and even a consultant but they couldn’t solve the problems. I was able diagnose calcium deficiency through what we learnt in secondary school, and alhamdullah. We got over the challenge.”
The experienced poultry farmer narrated how he was able to grow his farm from 11,000 to 32,000 capacity, through financial discipline.
“As an entrepreneur, you have to cultivate the habit of saving, and be frugal in your spending. Don’t throw your money where you are supposed to throw your brain. I remember when we started then, the capacity was 11,000. We kept building while I was also advancing my career. Each time my salary increased, I reduced the percentage reserved for spending.
“We kept building, and in few years, we were able to scale to 32,000 capacity.”
He added that the role of prayer cannot be downplayed.
Engr. Jawando noted that “People have money and they’re ready to give you. You just need to show that you’re credible.”
Test of proficiency in Yoruba Language
Beyond speech deliveries, this year’s edition featured a special cultural session, tagged ‘Yoruba Ponbele,’ where members were tested on their proficiency in Yoruba Language as it relates to their professions.
Winners of the novel session were awarded with various cash prizes based on their performances during the electrifying moments.
Awards recognize outstanding performances
Highpoints of the event was the presentation of awards to members who have distinguish themselves in their various entrepreneural activities.
The awardees included the Chief Executive Officer, Multi Aim Tawakkul Global Resources, Mr Waliyullah Muritala, Mrs Shakirah Olaleye-Ayuba CEO April Culinary, CEO, Samsab Yoghurt and Parfait, Mrs Samiat Thompson-Saba, and Dr Islamiyat Majolagbe of Ruroa Innovate, for making giant strides in the respective businesses and practice.
The visibly elated Chief Executive Officer of Multi Aim Tawakkul Global Resources, Mr Murtala, told Community Standard that he was highly surprised at the recognize of his noble efforts by the organizers.
“I didn’t expect to get any award today. I was just doing my own thing which is to avail people of organic food items. The organisers saw the effort and thought this award was necessary. May Allah continue to strengthen them.
“To me, this is a motivation to do more,” he said.
For the CEO, April Culinary, Mrs Shakirah Olaleye-Ayuba, this year’s edition of the Professional Day was spectacular.
“Alimosho Professional Group has been having Professional Day, but this one is spectacular. May the Almighty bless the effort. I feel so delighted to receive this award. On behalf of all of us at April Culinary, I say a very big ‘thank you’.”
