– Commends organization’s commitment to moral, spiritual development of society
– As group advocates empowerment for women, widows and youths
The Executive Chairman, Alimosho Local Government, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has commended Al-Muminaat (The Believing Women), Alimosho Chapter, for its commitment to moral and spiritual development of the society.
The Chairman gave the commendation when members of the Muslim women’s group, led by the Ameerah, Hajia Karima Ismail-Salman, paid a courtesy visit to congratulate him on his emergence as the Chairman and to establish a collaborative relationship with the council.
Speaking during the visit, the Ameera, Hajia Ismail-Salman, congratulated the Chairman on his electoral victory and introduced the mission and activities of Al-Muminaat.
She explained that the organisation is a faith-based body dedicated to empowering Muslim women through educational, spiritual, and community-focused initiatives.
According to her, the group regularly organises programmes such as pre-Ramadan public lectures designed to prepare women for their spiritual responsibilities during and after the holy month.
She also noted that Al-Muminaat conducts seminars, lectures, community outreach programmes, and camps aimed at moral and spiritual uplift of women in the community.
“Our focus is on spiritual development, educational workshops, and the promotion of moral values among women and young people in our communities,” she said.
Hajia Ismail-Salman appealed to the Chairman to consider including members of the group in empowerment opportunities provided by the local government, particularly for widows, unemployed and under-employed women, as well as young girls.
“Chairman sir, we are not here to take much of your time, but to request that our members be carried along in programmes related to empowerment. We would also appreciate the council’s support for our activities, such as providing venues for our spiritual campaigns and mobility support for our programmes. We look forward to a fruitful partnership with the council. May Allah reward you abundantly,” she added.
The chairman appreciated the group for the visit, promising that his administration would all within its capacity to support Almuminaat’s activities.
“I am very happy to receive you. May Allah (SWT) continue to strengthen your organisation. It is indeed better late than never, and I appreciate this visit. We will do all within our reach to support your activities.”
Hon. Johnson noted that the work of Al-Muminaat aligns with the council’s vision of nurturing responsible youths and strengthening moral values within society.
“This is a noble cause. It is important that we catch our young girls early enough and teach them the principles of Islam, while instilling moral discipline in them. I encourage you to liaise with the appropriate departments in the council so that your group can be included in our programmes and empowerment initiatives. Rest assured, by the grace of Allah, we will carry you along,” he assured.
As part of the visit, the group presented a gift to the Chairman to congratulate him and wish him success in the implementation of his agenda for the people of Alimosho.
The Chairman, in turn, encouraged the group to extend similar courtesy visits to other local governments in order to broaden their reach and impact.
