ALIMOSHO, LAGOS – The Alimosho Local Government authority has installed over 60 channels of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at strategic locations across the council area.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening security monitoring, supporting security agencies and curbing criminal activities within communities.
The CCTV installations are expected to provide wider surveillance coverage, making it easier to monitor public spaces, identify suspicious movements and support security operatives in responding to security threats.

Speaking on the project, the local government chairman, Ibrahim Akinpelu Johnson, described the installation as another significant milestone in fulfilling his campaign promises
He expressed confidence that the surveillance facilities would make Alimosho less vulnerable to criminal activities.
The chairman said the intervention was particularly important during the Ember months, when increased vigilance and proactive security measures were necessary to protect lives and property.
“These cameras will complement the efforts of our security agencies and the Alimosho Security Network, while improving surveillance and supporting the timely identification of suspicious activities,” the chairman stated.
Akinpelu said the project reflected his administration’s determination to translate campaign promises into tangible projects that directly benefit residents.
“Each time our administration delivers on a legacy project or fulfils a major commitment, I am filled with joy and a deep sense of fulfilment because it brings us closer to the promises we made to the people,” he said.
He further assured residents that his administration would remain focused on delivering its development programmes.
“We are not in the business of making promises we cannot fulfil. Our commitment is to translate every promise made during the campaign into tangible projects and programmes that directly improve the lives of our people,” Akinpelu added.
Beyond the installation, the initiative is expected to strengthen collaboration between the local government, security agencies, community-based security structures and residents, particularly in intelligence sharing and reporting suspicious activities.
Alimosho, one of the largest local government areas in Lagos State, has witnessed considerable population growth and expansion of residential and commercial activities, making effective security surveillance increasingly important.
The project is part of the administration’s W.I.S.E. Agenda, which focuses on Welfare, Infrastructure, Security and Education.
However, residents will be looking forward to effective monitoring and regular maintenance of the cameras, as well as their strategic deployment to ensure that communities across the council area benefit from the intervention.
For residents, the ultimate measure of the project will be its ability to deter criminal activities, support prompt security respon
ses and make neighbourhoods safer for people to live and do business.

This was highly commendable 👍
Long life Alimosho and long life Lagos state and Nigeria.
