AGBADO OKE-ODO LAGOS – Residents of Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), especially pregnant women, nursing mothers, parents and caregivers, are benefiting from free maternal and child healthcare services at primary healthcare centres across the council area.
The ongoing 2026 Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health (MNCAH) Plus Nutrition Week began on Monday and will end on Friday, July 24.
Community Standard understands that the exercise is taking place at the Meiran Public Health Centre and other participating Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs).
The programme provides free preventive and essential healthcare services aimed at improving the health of mothers, newborns, children and adolescents. It is also designed to reduce the burden of preventable diseases in the community.
Residents can access antenatal and postnatal care, family planning services for men and women, deworming, malnutrition screening, Vitamin A supplementation and growth monitoring for children.
The initiative, according to the organizers, offers an opportunity for many families to receive routine healthcare at no cost.
Health experts say such interventions help detect health challenges early, improve child nutrition and promote healthier families.
The Executive Chairman of Agbado/Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. Abiodun Jimoh Ejigbadero, urged eligible residents to take advantage of the exercise before it ends on Friday.
He described preventive healthcare as a vital investment in the well-being of families and the community, adding that all services under the programme are provided free of charge.
The initiative, according to a statement by the spokesman to the chairman, Femi Ojo, is part of ongoing efforts to improve maternal and child health outcomes across Lagos State by expanding access to quality primary healthcare at the grassroots.
