The people of Alimosho and its environs, especially Muslims, have joined the global call for an end to the ongoing US-backed Israeli brutal war on the people of Gaza in Palestine.
At a solidarity event on Wednesday 6, August 2025, in Egbeda, they reflected on the almost two years of the Israeli brutality in Gaza, which has resulted in the death of over 60,000 people, most of whom are women and children.
Some Islamic organizations including Muslim Students Society of Nigeria MSSN, Al-muminaat, The Muslim Congress, TMC and others were among the participants.
They called for the boycott of products and services from companies that are allegedly supporting Israel in committing the genocide in Gaza.
They also used the occasion to reflect on the Life and times of the late leader of the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, Ismail Haniyyeh, who was brutally assassinated by Israel in the Iranian Capital, Tehran, last year.
One of the speakers, Mr. Rabiu Fatade, noted that the issue of solidarity with the people of Gaza is about empathizing with humanity, adding that all people, irrespective of religion or racial leanings, should join the course to liberate the oppressed in Palestine.
He said the gathering was part of contribution towards creating more awareness about the sufferings of Gazans at the grassroots level here in Alimosho, urging attendees to always remember them in their prayers.

The Guest Lecturer, Ustadh Idris Mustapha, took the participants on historical excursion on the evolution of the resistance group, Hamas and its leadership up till the assassination of the Head of its Political Bureau, Ismail Haniyyeh.

He emphasized that struggle for the liberation of Palestine had not gone without painful sacrifices on the part of the people and their leadership.
According to him, the late Haniyyeh had, in the course of the current war, lost three of his sons, five of his grandchildren, along with other members of his family and relative.
It would be recalled that Haniyyeh was assassinated by Israel on Wednesday 31, July 2024, in Tehran where he was attending the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Another speaker, Mr. Abdul-Mumeen Abdul-Quadir, urged the participants as well as other well-wishers of the Palestinian people to boycott products and services from companies that are complicit in the ongoing genocide.
In July, the United Nations special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) released a new report mapping the corporations aiding Israel in the displacement of Palestinians and its genocidal war on Gaza, in breach of international law.

Francesca Albanese’s report, named 48 corporate actors, including United States tech giants Microsoft, Alphabet Inc. – Google’s parent company – and Amazon. A database of more than 1000 corporate entities was also put together as part of the investigation.
According to Albanese, “Israel’s forever-occupation has become the ideal testing ground for arms manufacturers and Big Tech, providing significant supply and demand, little oversight, and zero accountability, while investors and private and public institutions profit freely.”
Mr. Abdul Quadir said boycotting the products and services could have significant impact on the companies, in addition to safeguarding the people from indirectly contributing to the genocide.
While he called for more prayers, he listed some of the products to be boycotted and the alternatives that people could patronise.
The highpoint of the awareness programme was a special prayer session for the people of Palestine anchored by Imam Abdulwaheed Omotunde of The Muslim Congress, TMC.
