LAGOS – The General Manager, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Prince Ifalade Oyekan, has charged neighbourhood safety personnel to remain vigilant, alert and focused in the discharge of their duties
He said that community security requires constant attention and preparedness.
Oyekan gave the charge during his visit to the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute (LETI), where he addressed the second batch of officers participating in the Agency’s annual in-service training programme.
The LNSA helmsman said officers operating within communities must be mentally prepared to identify security threats early, respond appropriately and work closely with residents and other security agencies to prevent crime and maintain public safety.
He urged LETI to further strengthen its training curriculum by incorporating more practical approaches that would improve officers’ situational awareness, mental preparedness and ability to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
According to Prince Oyekan, continuous training is essential because neighbourhood safety personnel are often among the first responders to incidents and security concerns within local communities.
The Head of LETI, Mrs. Bonnie Taiwo, also encouraged the participating officers to take the training seriously and apply the knowledge gained to improve their professional competence and effectiveness on the field.
Oyekan commended the officers for completing another cycle of the annual training and reaffirmed the commitment of the Lagos State Government, under the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, to continuous capacity building and personnel welfare.
He said strengthening the skills and readiness of neighbourhood safety personnel would ultimately contribute to safer streets, more responsive community policing and greater confidence among residents.
The training, he noted, is part of broader efforts to equip LNSA personnel with the knowledge, discipline and practical skills required to support security agencies and protect communities across Lagos State.
