AGUDA, SURULERE – The Coker-Aguda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has intensified efforts to enhance security across the community, with plans to establish a Local Joint Task Force (Local JTF) to complement existing security agencies.

The Executive Chairman of the council, Hon. Ogidan Azeez, announced this while presiding over the Council’s monthly security meeting in Aguda, where issues relating to security, environmental management, traffic obstruction, and other public safety concerns were reviewed.

According to the Chairman, the proposed Local JTF is expected to strengthen coordinated security operations and improve the Council’s capacity to respond to emerging security threats within the LCDA.

The development comes as the Council’s Tactical Squad recorded a significant breakthrough in its July operations, recovering two firearms and ammunition from suspected criminals at a hideout within the area.

Hon. Ogidan also expressed concern over reported criminal activities around Abu Streets/Kuforiji and School Junction towards Alice Tinubu, warning that the Council would not tolerate any actions that threaten the peace and safety of residents.

He urged parents and guardians to caution their wards against involvement in criminal activities, stressing that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.

The meeting further raised concerns over uncompleted buildings and fenced plots allegedly being used as hideouts by criminal elements.

Hon. Ogidan therefore called on property owners to exercise greater responsibility in monitoring and regulating access to their properties.

The Council Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies, community leaders, and residents to protect lives and property, safeguard public infrastructure, and sustain peace across Coker–Aguda.

The Media Aide to the chairman, Olatunji Bello, in a statement seen by Community Standard, said that the proposed Local JTF, alongside ongoing tactical operations, forms part of broader efforts to build a safer and more orderly community for residents.
