ALAGBADO, LAGOS – The Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation, Alimosho District, has distributed clothing and other relief items to vulnerable members of society as part of its efforts to support the less privileged in local communities.

The Infaqul Afuw (Giving out of excess) outreach, held on October 24, 2026, at Alagbado Central Mosque, Alagbado, Lagos, featured the distribution of gently used clothing and other valuable items, including jalabias, corporate wear, lace fabrics, Ankara, hijabs and other materials.
The foundation’s Finance Manager, Mr Yusuf Adelakun, described Infaqul Afuw as a longstanding initiative dedicated to collecting, sorting, processing and redistributing quality used clothing and other items to vulnerable members of society.

He explained that the initiative was designed to prevent the waste of valuable items discarded by people who regularly change their wardrobes, despite such items remaining in good condition.
“A lot of people have many items. They change their wardrobe occasionally. Even the good item that’s still okay, they will change it, abandon it, or some of them even throw it away. All these items, we gather them together and process them,” he said.
Mr Adelakun further explained that the foundation carefully sorts the donated items to select those in the best condition before processing and distributing them to people in need.

“Infaqul Afuw has to do with giving used, but still good, valuable items to us. We now give them to the needy in society. The first thing is that when we collect those items, we sort them out, get the best of those items, and after sorting them out, we process them,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Alimosho District Coordinator of the foundation, Mr Jamiu Badrudeen, explained that the outreach was not limited to the Alagbado axis but extended to communities across the district, depending on the outcome of the foundation’s needs assessment.

He said the foundation had previously distributed relief items across different parts of Alimosho but decided to return to Alagbado because it had been a long time since its last visit to the area.
“We used to spread it all over Alimosho District, but for today, we brought it here because it’s been long we came here,” he said.

Beneficiaries and community stakeholders commended the foundation for its sustained commitment to supporting the Muslim community and the wider public through humanitarian initiatives.
Among those who expressed appreciation were the Chairperson of Alagbado Central Mosque Women’s Wing, Hajia Bakare Monsurat, Mrs Olaniyi Tawakaltu, and youth representative Mrs Oseni Shukrat Alifonu.
Hajia Bakare described the outreach as an impressive initiative and prayed for the continued success of the foundation.

“I really appreciate it because the programme is very nice, and it’s more than my experience. We pray that God will continue to help them and that they should continue to do good, Insha Allah,” she said.
Mrs Olaniyi, on her part, expressed satisfaction with the successful execution of the programme and prayed for the continued success of the foundation.

“They really tried, and I’m happy that everything they said was executed. My prayer for them is that Allah should continue to help them and make them successful in whatever they are doing,” she said.
The Infaqul Afuw initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to promoting compassion, reducing waste and providing practical support to vulnerable individuals by ensuring that reusable items reach those who need them most.
