“I want people to stand up and help me now that I need help. I don’t want people to come to my grave when I am no more and come and be crying. It is now that they should come out and help me financially because I want to be back on my feet. I have a long way to go in this industry.”
The above was an SOS appeal by popular Yoruba actor, Ojo Arowosafe, aka Fadeyi Oloro, back then in May this year when he was down with complications resulting from tuberculosis.
Fortunately for him, his cry for help resonated far and wide, and one of those who came to his rescue was the chairman of Agbado Oke Odo LCDA, Augustine Arogundade.
Like the popular saying that ‘one good turn deserves another,’ Fadeyi Oloro had actually paid his dues as a community leader and a staunch APC loyalist in Agbado Oke Odo. This, of course, explained why the chairman rose to the occasion to assist him.
In Arogundade’s words, “Pa Ojo Olowosafe has been a very close friend to my family, a committed leader in Agbado/Okeodo and an unrepentant supporter of the progressive party.”
“He was with us at APC throughout the campaign rallies of Governor Babajide Sanwoolu and other elected political office holders in Alimosho federal constituency. I was worried that he wasn’t accessible immediately after the last general election and had to find means to reach him, especially when l heard he was critically ill.”
“Fortunately, another actor came to my office for assistance and l had to use that opportunity to get Fadeyi Oloro’s contact.”
He eventually foot the medical bills of the actor at a crucial moment.
An appreciative Fadeyi Oloro paid a thank-you visit to his benefactor. He went in company of the Chairman, Agbado/Okeodo branch of Theatre Art & Motion Picture Production Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN, Deji Bakare and few other members.
The elated actor narrated how the chairman came to his rescue.
“The hospital authority had informed my children and relatives that l hade few hours to live if major medical treatment was not carried out on me. Behold, l was surprised that Dr. Arogun called me on phone to know how l was fairing.
“He thereafter sent unbelievable amount of money to foot my medical bills. I really appreciate what he did to save my life at the crucial moment. That was why l came with my branch chairman of TAMPAN, Deji Bakare and few members to show my appreciation.”
Arogundade thanked the Almighty God for saving the life of the film actor.
He said that Fadeyi Oloro actually got the reward for his good deeds, promising to use his office to rehabilitate him after the sickness, and pray that he lives long to fulfill his dreams.
Fadeyi Oloro became popular in Jimoh Aliu’s TV production, ‘Yanpon Yanrin,’ which featured Jimoh Aliu, Orisabunmi and others.
