The League of Muslim Schools Proprietors, (LEAMSP), Alimosho Zone, has held its electoral conference where new executive members that will pilot the affairs of the group emerged.
Held on Saturday 23 August, 2025, at the Muhibah School, Egbeda, the conference had in attendance members from across the zone.
The Proprietor, Earnest Schools, Ayobo, Mr. Ismail Ogunyomi, emerged as the new Zonal Coordinator while Mr. Tirmidhi Abdullah of Nasrullah School, Ikotun, emerged Secretary.
The immediate past coordinator, Alhaji Yaqub Hussein, in his speech, said the conference marked the end of remarkable years of hope and expectations with outstanding balance of structure of LEAMSP, Alimosho zone.
He said his administration faced various challenges from different quarters but with patience and commitment it was able to make some remarkable achievements.
“The administration has a tremendous expansion that witnessed new member schools across the zone. It was due to some remarkable strategic blue print adopted by this executives.
“This led to issuing certificates of membership to member schools free of charge and membership data revalidation exercise.”
Alhaji Hussein noted that Alimosho zone also showed tremendous outstanding performances leading as the overall best winners in LEC exam for years and also excelled in State programmes involving pupils that represented the zone.
He added that the outgoing executive members brought renew hope of prudence, transparency and accountability into the financial status of the zone.
“The new incoming executive members are not meeting an empty blunts account. The account was intact,” he added.
Presenting the Secretariat Report, the immediate past Secretary, Mr. Odewale Abdurrahman, highlighted some of the achievements and challenges of the outgoing administration.
“Members achieved varying degrees of tremendous growth. Some members obtained their provisional approvals, while some became recognized at the state level through the school registration initiative.
“Also, Baytul Ilm School, among other schools in the zone, continuously emerged best schools at the LEC examination during the period under review.
“Furthermore, students in member schools competed, collaborated and also sat for the unified termly examination.
“Other achievements within the period under review include, but not limited to; establishment of cordial relationship between the zonal executives and the local government authorities and agencies. These, amongst others, were some of our achievements.”
Discussing the theme of the conference “Registration, Approval and Challenges: The Gains and the Opportunities,” the Lagos State Deputy Chairman, Research/Standard, Alhaja Rasheedat Olowonisaye, enlightened the participants on the necessary things to put in place to secure smooth registration and approval for their schools.
She said the gains that accompany a duly-registered and approved school are numerous.
Some of these, according to her, include, legitimacy and peace of mind, parental trust, govt recognition, opportunity for growth, opportunity for cash flow, opportunity for collaboration, and projecting Islamic values within the society.
Alhaja Olowonisaye, though, acknowledged that there are challenges such as fear of attempt, beareucratic bottlenecks, corruption and exploitative channels, she encouraged members to ensure adequate records – staff files, students files – and see the rigorous processes as an investment.
The new Zonal Coordinator, Mr Ogunyomi, in his acceptance speech, said leadership position is not an easy task, hence, he called for support of the members to assist the new administration.
He also urged members of the new cabinet to work as a team for them to take the association to enviable heights.
Mr. Ogunyomi prayed to Allah to make the task easier than expected.
The high point of the conference was the inauguration of the new cabinet as well as the presentation of Award of Excellent Performance to the outgoing Coordinator.
