Alimosho Local Government has taken its Free Health Mission to primary school pupils in the communities.
This time around, the one-day Health Mission, held on Tuesday at Shasha Primary school, was done in collaboration with the Lagos State Ministry of Health.
The Media Aide to the Council Chairman, Ayinde Jamiu, said in release made available to Community Standard, that the programme was one of the unique activities of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which Alimosho keyed into, to ensure citizens in Lagos State stay healthy.
Pupils drawn from various primary schools as well as other children within the local government benefitted from free consultation, general check up, eye screening and provision of free drugs.
The Council’s Supervisor for Health, Abolade Rasheed said the future of the council and Nigeria as a whole can only be guaranteed when it’s younger ones are healthy.
According to him, “health is wealth and our children remain the future of this country. We need to ensure that they are healthy at all time.”
Medical experts from the State’s Ministry of Health were on ground to attend to the pupils’ medical issues.
It would be recalled that the local government last month organised a Free Health Mission during which residents enjoyed free consultation, HIV and STD Screening, Hepatitis B and C Screening, Blood Pressure Test and Prostate Cancer test.
The seven-day programme was held at the Bola Tinubu Primary Health Centre, Akowonjo, between 9am and 2pm, with medical experts from Cuba attending to beneficiaries’ health concerns.
