Residents of Ikotun Igando Local Council Development Area as well as visitors have been advised to protect the environment jealously.

The advice comes as the local government authorities commence massive evacuation of wastes at black spots as well as de-silting of drainages across the area.

The areas include but not limited to Okerube, Ikotun roundabout, Igando, Abaranje, Ijegun, Egan, Akesan amongst others.

The Council boss, Mrs Morenike Adesina Williams, said, “If we continue to degrade our environment, there will be heavy price to pay. And our children and theirs will be the one to pay for it.

“We need to become the generation that draws a line in the sand of the steady degradation of our environment and say “no more”.

She appealed to residents to take the issue of the environment seriously and warned that anybody caught degrading the environment would face the full wrath of the law.
