IKEJA, LAGOS – The Mosque Guidance and Development Lagos Initiative (MGDLI) has called on Muslims across Lagos State to participate in its three-day anniversary programme aimed at promoting better mosque administration, good governance and hygienic environments.

The programme, themed “Building Better Mosques: Documentation, Good Governance and Hygienic Environment,” is scheduled for October 30 to November 1, 2026, at the Lagos State First Secretariat Mosque Hall (Olanike Hall), Shamsi Adisa Thomas Central Mosque, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

In a statement, the organisation invited Imams, mosque administrators, Islamic scholars, youth groups, Muslim professionals, community leaders and other members of the Muslim Ummah to participate actively in the activities lined up for the anniversary.

MGDLI described the event as an opportunity for Muslims to contribute to the development of stronger mosque institutions and a more vibrant Muslim community.

“The responsibility of developing our mosques does not rest solely on Imams and mosque committees. Every Muslim has a role to play in building institutions that reflect the values of Islam, accountability, cleanliness and service to humanity,” the organisation stated.

It said the programme would provide a platform for participants to acquire relevant knowledge, exchange ideas and support initiatives aimed at improving mosque administration and community welfare.

The anniversary activities will include special prayers during the Jumu’ah service, health outreach, sanitation and hygiene training, first-aid sensitisation, a keynote lecture and networking sessions.

As part of the programme, a medical outreach will be organised in collaboration with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Muslim Nurse Forum, offering free health checks, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, counselling and referrals.

The organisation noted that the initiative aligns with Islamic teachings that promote cleanliness, good governance, communal responsibility and mutual support.

“This gathering is not merely an anniversary celebration; it is a call to action for Muslims to work collectively towards building stronger institutions and healthier communities,” MGDLI said.

The initiative also appealed to philanthropists, Islamic organisations, corporate bodies and community stakeholders to support the anniversary programme and partner with it on future mosque development projects.

Reiterating its invitation to members of the Ummah, MGDLI said collective participation was essential to achieving its vision of improved mosque management and healthier communities.

“We invite every member of the Ummah to be part of this transformative programme. Together, we can build better and cleaner mosques, we can build stronger communities and a brighter future for coming generations,” the organisation added.
