It is only those who have their Permanent Voters Card, PVC, that can make genuine impact during the 2019 general elections.

The Chairman, Alimosho Local government, Jelili Sulaimon, stated this recently at the inauguration ceremony of the Nigeria Interreligious Council, NIREC, at the LG Secretariat in Akowonjo.

Sulaimon said the PVC, apart from being the the only requirement for voting, can also be used as a tender document in bank.

“The PVC will enable the people to vote for the party and candidate of their choice. Without the PVC you cannot perform your civic responsibility of voting the candidate of your choice,” he said.

He charged the religious leaders on the need to sensitize their congregations on the importance of getting the PVC and using it to perform their civic responsibilities.

“Imams and Pastors should take the message to the mimbar and podium respectively. They should encourage their members to collect their PVC in order to vote in the coming election.

“Distribution of voters card is currently ongoing in Alimosho, citizens who just register should visit Millennium Secondary school to collect their cards” he said.

Speaking in a similar vein, the Head, National Orientation Agency, NOA Alimosho Branch Mr Sunday Aimiuwu encouraged Alimosho residents to obtain their PVC.

He said it was disheartening to note that Lagos state had the highest number of uncollected PVC based on INEC statistics.

According to him, if Lagos state could as high as 1.4million uncollected PVCs it means Alimosho, being the largest local government area, has a lot of residents that are yet to get their PVCs.

The NOA official also explained the categories of those eligible to register in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

“If you have lost your voters card, if you are just clocking 18, if you relocate after the last election, if you have voters card but not allowed to vote at the last election, visit CVR centre,” he said.
