The Chairmanship aspirant for Iru/Victoria Island LCDA, Princess Rasheedat Abiodun, has received a royal endorsement from the new Mai Kanuribe of Lagos, Alhaji Mai Mele Abatcha.

Princess Abiodun is currently the acting chairman of the council and she is contesting to become the substantive chairman in the coming local government elections under the All Progressives Congress, APC, platform.

Abiodun got the endorsement when she paid a courtesy visit to Alhaji Mele Abatcha, who is also the Seriki Hausawa of Ijora land and the overall Seriki of Iganmu Kingdom, on Monday.

While thanking the chairmanship hopeful for the visit and praying for her victory, Mele Abatcha assured Abiodun of the total support of the Arewa community of Iru/Victoria Island.

Abiodun used the opportunity of the visit to congratulate Alhaji Mai Mele Abatcha as the new Mai Kanuribe of Lagos, the Seriki Hausawa of Ijora land and the overall Seriki of Iganmu Kingdom.

In her speech, she noted that “we are all one irrespective of our differences, whether we are hausa, Yoruba or Igbo. As we have you here in Lagos, so also we have many Yorubas in other parts of Nigeria.”

“Our diversity is our strength,” she added.

She also emphasised on the need to preserve the peaceful coexistence and stability achieved in Victoria Island, promising to provide more social amenities and dividends to the people of the local government.

She prayed for the new Mai Kanuribe to enjoy his reign without any obstacles, with God’s guidance and protection.

Zanna Karagama, Babagana Buba of the Kanuri Council, who also came along with the chairmanship hopeful, acknowledged the strides of Princess Abiodun in Iru/Victoria Island, and most especially helping a lot of Arewa Communities in Lagos.

In the entourage of Princess Abiodun were the Former Vice Chairman, Olusegun Ajiboye and former Secretary of the Councill, Ezekiel Agboyinu, who both endorsed and canvassed for the actualisation of her chairmanship mandate.

They highlighted the achievements of Abiodun, describing her as one of the best Council chairmen that care for people and carry everybody along.
