The Women Advocacy Research and Documentation Centre says postpartum haemorrhage is a serious health issue that needs redress.
According to the centre, the condition has claimed lives and threatened the well-being of many women in the society.
The Founder, White Foundation, Mrs. Adenike Mictaiwo, stated these at an event aimed at increasing awareness on postpartum haemorrhage among pregnant women, nursing mothers, and midwives.
It was held at Tomek Hall in Odo Adamo area of Ayobo Ipaja Local Council Development Area on Wednesday 9, July, 2025.
Postpartum haemorrhage is excessive bleeding after childbirth. It’s one of the most serious complications of delivery and a leading cause of maternal death, especially in developing countries.
Mictaiwo informed the participants about Tranexmic Acid injection, which has proven to be effective in saving the lives of bleeding mothers after childbirth.
“We’ve come today to tell people about Tranexmic Acid injection, an injection that has been confirmed 95% effective in treating postpartum haemorrhage. We want our women to know about it, so they can ask for it if their condition demands,” she said.
Meanwhile, Odo-Adamo Community youths from different walks of life, came together same day for the overall growth and development of their community.
The youths gathered at the open space and shed adjacent Tomek Multipurpose Hall to rally support for Hon. Abiodun Lukmon Agbaje, the All Progressive Congress, APC, candidate for chairmanship position in Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area, stating that his candidacy is a leap towards growth, development and betterment.
Speaking at the event, one of the conveners, Akeem Lawal said, “we’ve been voting in every election. We’ve rallied support around different candidates, but what do show in terms of development within our community? The roads that lead into the community are moribund. car owners have to park their cars far away from home, exposing the vehicles to potential security threats.
“Many expend a chunk of their hard-earned money on repairs. The situation affects a lot of things, including economic activities within the community. Now is the time for us to do it and get it right. Let’s attract the benefits of democracy that everyone can feel.
Also, speaking at the event, Comrade Adewale Ajao, appealed against political apathy, noting that the benefits of political participation can not be overemphasised.
He criticized the irony exhibited by a section of the citizenry, who complain and blame the government, yet do nothing when it’s time to make their vote count.
“This, that we’re doing today is a wake-up call, especially for some who don’t see the need for political participation. We all have to vote and make our votes count in our favour.
“We have unemployed graduates among us. The artisans among us are trying to make a better living. Even the senior citizens are yearning for better welfare. All these can’t be attained through political apathy. That’s why we all have to step out of our houses on Saturday to do the right thing.
“Let’s all make good use of our power as the electorate.”
Also present at the gathering was Chief Sunday Aina, Chairman, Odo-Adamo Community Development Association, and other elders of the community.
