Condolence messages have been pouring in following the death of the Chairman, Agbado Oke Odo Odo Local Council Development Area, Dr Augustine Arogundade, earlier today.
The Media Aide to the late chairman, Edafe Oghenebrume, had announced the demise of his boss on Facebook, with another confirmation to Community Standard on phone.
His colleagues at the the Lagos State Conference of Local Government and Local Council development Area Chairmen, tagged ‘Conference 57,’ in a message, prayed God to forgive his shortcomings.
“We pray The Good Lord forgive his shortcomings and grant him safe passage to paradise while we continue to pray for the family at this trying time,” said Mrs Omolola Essien, Chairman of Conference 57 on behalf of the group.
In similar message, the Chairman Orile Agege LCDA, Johnson Babatunde, expressed sadness over the death of the former LCDA boss, offering his condolences to the family and the people of Agbado Oke Odo.
On his part, the chairman, Ejigbo LCDA, Monsurudeen Oloyede, described late Arogundade as “a colleague and a vibrant man of honour among the conference 57 Lagos state.”
While expressing condolences on behalf of his family, executive, legislative and administrative arms of Ejigbo LCDA, Bello prayed that “Almighty Allah in His infinite mercy grant his immediate family, the indigenes and non of Agbado-Okeodo LCDA the fortitude to bear the great Loss.”
The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, recalled the memories of her relationship with the late LCDA boss as a Supervisory Councillor for Agric and Youth Development.
“During the beginning of my political sojourn from Agbado-Okeodo LCDA, as a Supervisor for Agric and Youth Development, you were my Chairman whom we had a great and excellent working relationship with and lofty memories we shared together even up to this moment.
“Words are never adequate in moments like these. I will say though, that our hearts go out to you, and we will always remember the joyous memories that we are privileged to have in knowing you,” she said.
Akinbile-Yussuf prayed God to give the family he left behind, the fortitude to bear the loss.
“To the political associates, the entire Alimosho political class, this is a huge loss to all of us. We have lost a rare gem in our midst. May God comfort us at this trying time. And the entire residents of Agbado-Okeodo LCDA, we have lost a dedicated and loving Chairman. Kindly accept my sincere condolences,” she added.
The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Jelili Sulaimon, said Arogundade was a lovely leader and would be missed greatly.
In a condolence message to the family, a Member of the Lagos State House Of Assembly representing Agege Constituency II, Oluyinka Ogundimu, said “we hold you close in our thoughts and hope you know you can lean on us for whatever you may need.”
“Sorry to hear of your father’s passing. I’ll always remember the huge smile on your face and light in your eyes whenever you spoke of him.”
The Chairman, Agege Local Government, Ganiyu Egunjobi, said late Arogundade “was known to be good to people he came across.
According to him, Arogundade, until his death, was a gentle man with a kind heart.
“On behalf of my family, the Executive, Legislative, Management & Staff and the people of Agege Local Government, I condole with our counterparts in Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA on the sudden demise of their council’s chairman, Dr. Augustine Adeoye Arogundade.
“My prayer is that God almighty will forgive him of his shortcomings while on earth, and grants his family, and the people of the council area the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.
Signing condolence register at the Council Secretariat in Abule Egba, the Chief Press Secretary to late Arogundade, Edafe Oghenebrume, described him as not just a boss but “a father to me.”
“My Irreplaceable Boss, you came, saw and conquered despite all the challenges and obstacles. And Almighty God knows that l humbly, honestly and loyally served you to the end because your hands are clean and your mind is pure as Gold,” he wrote.
