The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lagos Council, has urged Nigerians, especially Muslims, to continue practicing and abiding by the lessons of Ramadan for sustainable development of the society.
The Council gave the advice in message to commemorate the Eid celebration with Muslims who just completed a whole month of fasting.
Chairman, NUJ Lagos state council, Dr Qasim Akinreti and Secretary, Odifa Adebayo, who signed the message, said the symbolism of these lessons at the period of COVID-19 pandemic are quite instructive.
“We must sacrifice to ensure that all protocols of COVID -19 are adhere to, we must show love to one another by sharing food and other essentials to our neighbours who are in need. We must ensure strict obedience to the authorities and continue to pray for an end to the global pandemic.”
They added that Ramadan is a blessed month that teaches the Muslim faithful high sense of sacrifice, love, obedience and prayers at all times.
“We equally need these lessons of Ramadan for the success of the NUJ forth coming election in the state by September.
“May Allah accept our good deeds and forgive all our transgressions, accept the Ramadan fast as an act (worship ) and clean the earth of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Let us be Guided by the Lessons of Ramadan – NUJ Lagos Council
Dear Distinguished Colleagues, it is with profound gratitude that we thank Allah swt ( Almighty God) for his mercies over us in the last 30 days of Ramadan fast.
Ramadan a blessed month teaches the Muslim faithfuls high sense of sacrifice, love , obedience and prayers at all times.
The symbolism of these teachings at the period of COVID-19 pandemic are quite instructive. We must sacrifice to ensure that all protocols of COVID -19 are adhere to, we must show love to one another by sharing food and other essentials to our neighbours who are in need. We must ensure strict obedience to the authorities and continue to pray for an end to the global pandemic .
Accordingly, everyone especially our muslim brothers and sisters must continue to practice and abide by these lessons for sustainable development of our society.
