AYOBO IPAJA, LAGOS – Crop farmers in Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have received fertilisers from the council as part of efforts to improve agricultural productivity and strengthen food security in the area.
The distribution, facilitated by the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Agbaje Lukmon Abiodun, is aimed at providing farmers with essential farm inputs to increase crop yields, lower production costs and support sustainable farming.
Representing the chairman at the programme, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ahmad Adeyinka Yusuf, said the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to supporting farmers and promoting agricultural development at the grassroots.
According to him, agriculture remains a key component of the council’s development agenda, noting that empowering local farmers is vital to achieving food sufficiency, creating economic opportunities and improving livelihoods.
He assured beneficiaries that the council would continue to introduce programmes that strengthen the agricultural value chain and provide practical support to farmers across the LCDA.
The event was attended by the Supervisor for Agriculture and Social Services, Hon. Damilola Owonla Odubajo; the Special Adviser on Agriculture, Hon. Elijah Adedapo; the Head of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Oluwatoyin Fagbola; executive members of the council, heads of departments, representatives of the Farmers’ Association and other stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
Farmers were urged to make effective use of the fertilisers to improve soil fertility, increase crop yields and contribute to food production within Ayobo-Ipaja and Lagos State.
Some of the beneficiaries described the intervention as timely, saying the fertilisers would help reduce the cost of farming and improve their productivity.
They also expressed appreciation to the council for recognising the importance of agriculture and providing support to local farmers.
The fertiliser distribution is one of the agricultural support initiatives being implemented by the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA to encourage farming, improve household incomes and enhance food security within the community.
