The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Alimosho Local Government, today honoured nine of its members who are now retirees.

The Comrade Rufaiyat Alejo-led union also used the occasion to mark its first anniversary in office.

In his address at the event, the Local Government Chairman, Jelili Sulaimon, said the history of Alimosho would not be complete without the names of some of the retirees.

“I want to commend and congratulate the NULGE chairman for putting this first of its kind programme together, ” he said.

Sulaimon also promised the retirees special new year gifts.

Comrade Alejo used the opportunity to roll out the various acheivements of the administration which include, refurbishing the NULGE bus and office, welfare package for widows, providing recreational games for staff among others.

She urged members of staff of the Local Government to stay focused while discharging their responsibilities.

“It is time to break the bad habit of expecting something for nothing from our government or from each other. Let us take responsibility, not only for ourselves and our families, but for our communities and our country,” she added.

The event was graced by dignitaries including the Secretary to the local government, Dare Ogunkoya and NULGE chairmen of five other Local Govenment, among others.
