In continuation of our series on aspirants aiming to succeed the outgoing chairman of Alimosho Local government, Jelili Sulaimon, our spotlight this time around is on Abolade Abdurrasheed Ademola popularly known as Aseyori. He also belongs to the Mandate group within the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, headed by Alhaji Abdullahi Enilolobo.
Abolade Abdurrasheed Ademola is the current Supervisor for Health in the local government. He was first appointed into that position in 2018, and many believed his sterling performance earned him a re-appointment in 2021 by the chairman.
A graduate of political science from the University of Abuja, Abdulrasheed was born about 40 years ago into the family of late Major Taliat Alao Abolade and late Hon. Toyin Ajoke Abolade in the ancient city of Egbeda, Alimosho LGA, Lagos State. He had both his primary and secondary education in Alimosho.
Aseyori is a grassroots person to the core in Alimosho, Egbeda, Akowonjo and environs right from his childhood days. He was the captain of Alabata football club at a very tender age and even in his 20s. He had played football competitions in the entire Alimosho LGA and even beyond. Just name any football field in Alimosho – PAKO field, Twin field, Kuwait, Okunola field, Karimu Laka field and even some fields at Agege, Abdulrasheed was always on ground connecting with the people.
He is a member of Alabata Progressive Youth Forum. Abdulrasheed was the secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Alimosho branch. Having performed creditably well, he later contested for the post of the coordinator and overwhelmingly won the election.
Aseyori’s steadfastness, loyalty and dedication to the party dates back to the days of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now All Progressives Congress (APC).
A major strength for him is his genuine connection with the people of Alimosho through his regular medical outreaches and other community development programmes across the local government. He has facilitated the registration of over 5000 beneficiaries of the medical outreaches and other residents of Alimosho into the Ilera Eko Health Insurance scheme free of charge.
In February, Aseyori partnered with the Salvation Initiative for the Vulnerable and Eye Care Foundation to conduct free eye screening and cataract surgery for adults in the local government. Free eye glasses, Jigi Aseyori, were distributed at the event. At least 1000 people were screened for cataract and 50 have been booked for surgery by the end of this month.
On Friday 21, March, 2025, in commemoration of the International Women’s Day, Abolade a hosted free scan screening exercise for women in the local government in collaboration with the Christ The King Catholic Hospital (CKC Hospital).
The screenings included breast scan, fibroid check, ovarian cyst, fetal well-being, gender presentation and weight, pregnancy scan, blood pressure test and blood sugar test.
Aseyori believes his performance in office as the Super for Health is a huge credential for him to take a shot at the highest seat in the local government administration. Testimonies from residents and verifiable evidences of his commitment and dedication to the course of the party, APC, the people and the local government are definitely going to count in his favour when the time comes.
He wants to build on the achievements of his boss, Hon. Jelili Sulaimon, who built health centres in four out of the seven wards of Alimosho, to build functional health centres in the remaining three wards.
In addition to the health centres, he is promising to provide health posts for communities in other to make health closer to the people in the grassroots.
Other things he plans to do are:
Making Agricultural department truly agriculture, beyond CDA/CDC/youth affairs. Alimosho will invest largely in agriculture and be self-sufficient in terms of food production.
Reforming Primary Education and improve its standard beyond Private schools.
Empowering youths and women.
Providing employment opportunities for the good people of Alimosho
