The popular Miccom Street along Egbeda-Akowonjo road under Alimosho Local Government has finally received the attention of the authorities following the flag off of the construction of its poor drainage and dilapidated road.
The Miccom street road, which connects other inner streets within the area, had been an eyesore for a very long time, with residents and motorists losing at lot of quality man hours to traffic gridlock on daily basis.
The Chairman, Alimosho Local Government, Mr Jelili Sulaimon, today, flagged off the construction of drainage and interlocking of the street as well as the channeling of the waste-water from Miccom to where it will be drained off.
The project is expected to commence immediately.
The road is a very important link between Akowonjo and Idimu road and its construction will help ease traffic and reduce the man-hour wasted on the road.
Mr Sulaimon advised all the stakeholders including the Community Development Associations and the youths to ensure that the project runs smoothly.
He also said that they should report any unscrupulous elements within the communities that could obstruct the progress of the project to the appropriate quarter.
The residents appreciated the council chairman for the move and promised to do their part to ensure the success of the project since it has been handed over to them.
The representative of Synergy Ultimate Nigeria Limited, the company handling the construction, Mr Najimdeen, said the project would take a maximum of six months to complete.
It would be recalled that Miccom street was one of the projects which the Local Government had earlier called for contractors to bid their construction.
