AGBADO OKE-ODO, Lagos – The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected criminals and recovered a cache of dangerous weapons and illicit substances during a major raid on criminal hideouts in parts of the state.

The operation, carried out under the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III, targeted identified black spots, including Boolar and Super Ile-Epo, in a bid to rid the areas of hoodlums and other criminal elements.

Lagos Police Spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, in a statement on Monday, said the coordinated operation was conducted at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday by a joint team of operatives drawn from different formations of the Command, acting on credible intelligence.

A total of 147 suspects were arrested during the raid, while operatives recovered 250 expanded cartridges, 22 machetes, five battle axes, two knives, a pair of scissors, a lighter, assorted charms and substances suspected to be Indian hemp.

The police said all the suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. Those found culpable, the Command said, will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE III across the state.

He said the operation would continue to target criminal hideouts and ensure that Lagos remains unsafe for criminals while guaranteeing the safety and security of residents.

The Commissioner also appealed to members of the public to support the police by providing timely and credible information that could aid in identifying criminal hideouts, apprehending offenders and improving public safety across the state.
