MOSAN-OKUNOLA, Lagos — The Mosan Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced the rehabilitation of the BS Streets road network in Federal Ward A as part of efforts to improve road connectivity and ease traffic within the council area.
The project, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesman to the council chairman, is expected to decongest traffic along the main road while enhancing the movement of residents, motorists and businesses across the LCDA.
The council said the BS Streets road network serves as a key access route linking several adjoining streets and that, upon completion, the rehabilitated roads will provide easier access to Mosan Roundabout, Mosan Bus Stop, Abidap and other neighbouring communities.
As part of the intervention, the council has also begun desilting and clearing drainage channels to ensure free flow of water and protect the roads from erosion and flooding.
The ongoing work was inspected on Saturday by the Executive Chairman of the LCDA, Hon. Akindele Adunni Opeyemi, accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Akintola Falade, and the Iyaloja of Ladega Market. The delegation assessed the progress of the drainage clearing while reaffirming the administration’s commitment to delivering durable infrastructure.
Speaking during the inspection, the chairman described roads as critical to community development, saying the rehabilitation project would improve transportation, support local businesses and strengthen connectivity within the council.
“Roads are more than pathways; they are the lifelines of every community. When we build and rehabilitate roads, we are opening doors to economic growth, safer transportation and greater opportunities for our people.
“The rehabilitation of BS Streets is not just about easing traffic. It is about connecting neighbourhoods, supporting local businesses, improving access to homes and creating a more functional environment for residents,” the statement quoted her as saying.
Hon. Akindele also assured residents that her administration would continue to prioritise infrastructure projects with direct benefits to the people.
“Every strategic road we rehabilitate brings us closer to the Mosan Okunola of our collective dream. We remain committed to delivering infrastructure that will stand the test of time and serve our people effectively,” she assured.
Residents are expected to enjoy smoother vehicular movement, improved drainage and better accessibility when the rehabilitation is completed.
