The new Chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Alimosho and District Society, Mr. Alli Olanrewaju Dauda, has said that his passion lies in elevating the organisation to new heights of professionalism.
This, he said, will be achieved through a unique theme he termed: “PGC”-Plan, Grow, and Collaborate.
According to him, structured programmes designed to benefit members and enhance their interests will be rolled out under the PGC banner.
Mr. Alli stated this at his investiture as chairman for the 2024/2025 chairmanship year which held on June 22, 2024.
The investiture was held at the Amen Event Centre, Abesan Estate, Ipaja, Lagos.
He was elected alongside his Executive Committee at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting held on Sunday 26 May, 2024.
A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Alli holds a Executive Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and is affiliated with other professional bodies.
The 5th ICAN Alimosho and District Society Chairman is the managing partner of Olanrewaju Alli & Co, a firm of Chartered Accountants, which specializes in Audit and Assurance, Taxation, and Financial Management Consultancy Services for SMEs.
Mr. Alli is an active member of ICAN, and prior to his election as Chairman, had served in various committees of the organization from 2009 to date.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairman pledged to lead with transparency, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning.

INTRODUCTION
Today, I stand before you with a sense of humility and honor as I accept the position of the 5th Chairman of the ICAN Alimosho and District Society. I am deeply grateful for the trust you have bestowed upon me and the opportunity to serve this esteemed organization.
As I step into this role, I am acutely aware of the legacy of excellence that has been meticulously crafted by the four distinguished Chairmen who preceded me. Their unwavering dedication and commitment have set a high standard—one that I am determined to uphold and build upon.
My passion lies in elevating our District Society to new heights of professionalism. To achieve this, I propose a unique theme: “PGC”—Plan, Grow, and Collaborate. Under this banner, we will roll out structured programs designed to benefit our members and enhance their interests.
Dear Professional Colleagues, I assure you that our executive team will not only strengthen the existing committee but also welcome new, dedicated members who are ready to contribute to our journey towards greatness. Our goal is to elevate our status from ICAN Category C to District Category B, thereby unlocking additional benefits and prestige for the ICAN Alimosho and District Society.
Furthermore, our Cabinet (team) will remain open to all members, and we eagerly await your constructive feedback. Your insights can drive progress not only within our local Alimosho community but also within our profession and ICAN as a whole.
Allow me to tantalize your curiosity about our upcoming cabinet: Our existing District programs will be infused with ethical considerations, ensuring better outcomes.
Here are key initiatives
- BUILDING PROJECT: We are launching a fund-raising campaign to connect willing members with well-to-do individuals and corporate organizations. The goal is to secure support for essential projects led by our executives.
- CATCH THEM YOUNG PROGRAM: This beautiful program will continue to inspire and nurture young talents. During this tenure, we plan to increase our engagement with secondary schools in Lagos, particularly those within Alimosho local authorities. We also intend to visit the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Camp to further our impact.
- MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING: Our monthly general meetings will continue, alternating between physical and virtual formats. We are exploring the possibility of hybrid meetings during the months when physical gatherings take place. Also, Virtual meetings will include paper presentations on various topics for the benefit of our members.
- ANNUAL ACCOUNTANTS CONFERENCE: We remain committed to motivating our members to attend the annual largest gathering of professional accountants worldwide. Additionally, ICAN Alimosho will actively participate in the Districts’ fashion parade at the next conference.
- WESTERN ZONAL CONFERENCE: ICAN Alimosho District has witnessed a geometric increase in our members participation at Western Zonal Conferences. Our executive team aims to maintain this momentum and even surpass the attendance figures from the last conference in “Ibadan 2024.” Notably, the next edition will be hosted in Lagos by ICAN Ikeja and District Society.
- MEMBERS’ WELFARE: This executive team would pay more attention to members’ attendance at meetings, strengthen the existing membership database, and categorize members effectively. Having in mind the diverse roles played by our professional colleagues, including young professionals, retired senior professionals, members in professional practice, and those not currently practicing.
Furthermore, we are considering the formation of the ICAN Alimosho Cooperative Society for the benefit of our members, to be exclusively managed as an independent entity.
- END OF THE YEAR PARTY: The 2024 edition promises to be even more exciting. Stay tuned!
- QUARTERLY FITNESS WALK: We are committed to regular quarterly fitness walks. These sessions, supervised by trained coaches, will encourage members to enhance their physical wellness.
Our society stands as a beacon of professionalism and integrity in the accounting field. We carry the responsibility not only to maintain these high standards but also to continually raise the bar. As your Chairman, I pledge to lead with transparency, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to continuous learning.
In the face of an ever-evolving global economy, adaptability and innovation are paramount. We will embrace new technologies, methodologies, and ideas to ensure that we remain at the forefront of our profession. Our goal is to equip our members with the tools and resources they need to excel in their careers.
