The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Alimosho Area Council on Saturday the 6th of July, 2024 hosted its annual get-together for school leavers.
The event, themed “Setting Goals For The Future,” was aimed at celebrating the academic achievement of the school leavers, provide guidance and mentorship, and foster a sense of community among Muslim students.
The guest speaker of the day, Mr. Ismail O’yomi, the CEO, Main Earnest Global Resources, advised the participants on the need to set goals, and how to go about it, in order to attain success.
He highlighted the steps in goal-setting to include decision-making, documentation, setting time frame or deadline, listing the activities involved, prioritizing and tracking daily progress.
Mr. O’yomi said determination, commitment, resilience and teamwork are the major tools required to achieve any set goals.
He also advised the fresh secondary school graduates to avoid all forms of distractions in order not to lose focus.
“Avoid distractions, cultivate savings habit and explore your money bags to achieve your goals,” he said.
Also speaking at the event, the Best Graduating Student, Lagos State University (LASU) for 2023/2024 academic session, Mr. Mubarak Olaniyi, tasked the students to derive passion in their studies and shun negativity.
He said, “find what you have passion for, consult, take different advices and compare them. Be hardworking, and relate with people well.
“Don’t allow people’s comment affect your life, and don’t allow your emotional life affect your academic life”, he added.
The event also featured a panel session, with the Chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants, ICAN Alimosho and District Society, Mr. Alli Daud; the CEO, D’Genius Bespoke, Mr. Sanni Hassan, and Dr. Muaz Oladimeji sharing their experiences and valuable insights to navigate the future.
The event also included interactive sessions, games, and entertainment.
In a closing remark, the Amir, (President) MSSN Alimosho Area Council, Mr. Miftahudeen Olowoyobiojo, expressed gratitude to the guests and audience.
He said, “we are thrilled to have successfully hosted this get-together again this year. Our goal is to support and empower Muslim students to excel in their academic and personal lives. We believe that by coming together, we can make a positive impact on our community and the society at large.”
The get-together was made possible through the support of various organizations and individuals and Schools around Alimosho Local Government.
