Two secondary schools under District 1 of the Lagos State Ministry of Education have benefitted from the Academic Excellence Initiative, AEI, annual Book Donation Programme.

The schools are State Senior High School Alimosho and State Senior College Alimosho.

This year, the AEI presented past questions in English and Mathematics, as well as exercise books for the academic advancement of students of benefitting schools.

The presentation was done today at the District office in Agege.

The donation the by the educational Non-Governmental Organisation, is to complement the effort of the government and to expose the students and prepare them for both WAEC and NECO examinations.

The Project Coordinator of AEI, Mr Adesegun Ogunbayi, said the annual programme was one of the NGO’s contributions towards the development of education in the state.

“Academic Excellence Initiative has academic mentorship programmes for the senior secondary school students that are preparing for WAEC annually but only private schools have been benefiting till date with uncommon performance in WAEC and JAMB.

“Other programmes of interest are Guidance and Counselling, WAEC Clinic and JAMB Drilling session, Pre-Jamb, Youth Orientation Programme etc. All these are organised in not less than seven states nationwide,” he added.

Receiving the book donation, the District Tutor-General, Mrs Margaret Solarin, lauded the effort of AEI and said the government was ready to partner with the NGO in advancing education in Lagos State.

She emphasised the important role past questions could play in preparing students for various examinations.

The donation ceremony had in attendance principals of the benefitting schools as well as other district officials.

Ifesowapo Aboru Senior Secondary school in Agbado Oke Odo was the beneficiary of 2018 programme.

The AEI is an educational NGO with a mission to mobilise the youths toward academic excellence, educational rights, self-discovery and optimisation of their potentials.
